Chicago goes all out for Halloween—and thankfully, plenty of the city’s spooky-season fun includes four-legged guests too. From dog costume parades and neighborhood trick-or-treat crawls to Halloween cruises, 5Ks, and pup parties, October is packed with ways to celebrate with your dog.

Spooky Season Event Roundup
Windy City Yorkies: Howl-o-ween Pawty at Pup Social

Spooky season starts early at Pup Social with the Windy City Yorkies Howl-o-ween Pawty.
Yorkies and their humans can spend the afternoon socializing, playing, taking photos, and showing off their Halloween looks. The event includes free play, a costume contest, prizes, a door-prize drawing, and plenty of opportunities for both pups and people to make new friends.
The event is 21+, with doors opening at 2:45 PM.
HOWL-O-WEEN EXTRAVAGANZA

Get ready for a frightfully fun evening at Pup Social! Join us for our Howl-O-Ween Extravaganza in collaboration with Fi Collar. Pups and their humans are invited to dress in their best Halloween looks and enjoy an evening packed with interactive activities, treats, photo opportunities, prizes, vendors, and spooky off-leash fun.
Fi Collar will be joining the Pawty with special activations throughout the evening, including custom tag engraving, a Fi data-inspired game, pup cups with toppings, and a dog sketching activation. Guests can also stop by the Fi Collar table to learn more about Fi and shop available products.
BooPalooza & BarkPalooza

One of Wicker Park’s biggest fall traditions is officially returning.
BooPalooza brings family-friendly Halloween festivities including live music, costume activities, games, pumpkin decorating, and more, while BarkPalooza gives Chicago pups their own chance to join the celebration.
The dog-friendly portion includes a dog costume parade, making this an easy choice for anyone looking to show off their pup’s best Halloween look. Organizers say the combined event typically attracts thousands of attendees, so expect a lively afternoon in the park.

Want to take your pup’s Halloween celebration onto the water? Chicago’s First Lady is bringing back its Howl-O-Ween Canine Cruise for two weekends in October.
Dogs and their humans can board in costume for a 90-minute river and lake cruise featuring Chicago views, pumpkin-flavored dog treats, and a costume contest. Best-dressed dogs will also have a chance to be connected to a larger charitable prize, with First Lady making a donation in a winning pup’s name to a selected canine organization.
West Loop Veterinary Care Howl-O-Ween

West Loop Veterinary Care is bringing back its annual Howl-O-Ween celebration at Mary Bartelme Park. This neighborhood event traditionally brings together pups, pet parents, and local businesses for an afternoon of Halloween fun in the heart of the West Loop. It’s a great option for dog parents looking for an easy daytime celebration without leaving the city.

Northalsted’s Halloween Pup Crawl turns the neighborhood into one big trick-or-treat route for dogs and their people. Registered participants receive a tote bag and can make their way along Halsted Street visiting participating businesses and pet-focused vendors for treats, swag, and Halloween fun.
There will also be a free photo booth for registered pets from 10 AM–1 PM. After the crawl, head over to the Lark Pup Patio Brunch, beginning at 11 AM, with raffle drawings scheduled for 2 PM. Costumes are definitely encouraged.
Glow-o-ween Disco Foam Pawty

Get ready to dance, glow, and party at Pup Social’s Disco Pawty — a neon-inspired celebration featuring music, lights, foam, and nonstop fun for pups and humans alike. Howl-O-Ween 5K at Dan Ryan Woods

If your dog would rather run than parade, the Howl-O-Ween 5K might be the perfect Halloween outing. Dogs are welcome to join their humans for this timed 5K through Dan Ryan Woods, and pups do not need their own registration.
The event welcomes runners and walkers and includes a doggie finisher medallion along with finish-line treats for both humans and dogs. The race also raises funds for K9s for Veterans, which pairs rescue dogs with veterans in need of service animals. Dogs participating in the race must remain leashed.
West Loop 569 Bark Park Howl-O-Ween Party

The 569 Bark Park Howl-O-Ween Party invites pups to arrive in their most festive costumes for a morning dedicated to Halloween fun at the neighborhood dog park. 39th Annual Streeterville Doggy & Kitty Halloween Costume Party and Parade

One of Chicago’s longest-running pet Halloween traditions returns for its 39th year. Dogs—and cats—are invited to dress up for a Halloween morning at the Museum of Contemporary Art Sculpture Garden.
The celebration includes a costume party and parade, and attendees are encouraged to bring a pet toy or accessory for the event’s prize swap. Admission is free, but registration is required. Pets must remain leashed or in carriers.
